The Giant Forest, Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Park

Spotted in the southern Sierra Nevada Mountains, this three-square-mile timberland of enormous monster sequoias is home to the General Sherman Tree, the world's biggest tree by volume (52,508 cubic feet). Alternate trees here are jaw-dropping, as well as a rule, they are as tall as 26-story structures and have base breadths more extensive than numerous city lanes. Just as stunning as these conifers' fabulous size, however, is their age: most are somewhere around 1,800 and 2,700 years of age.
